RMS-SEPM Scholarship Eligibility Guidelines

The RMS-SEPM bylaws define the Rocky Mountain Region (in reference to membership eligibility) as “those who work or reside in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, or New Mexico.” RMS-SEPM scholarships are only for students attending a college or university in the U.S.

THE DONALD L. SMITH RESEARCH GRANT
Offered as a tribute to the late Professor Donald Smith of Montana State University (see AAPG Bulletin Non-Technical and Memorial Bulletin, v. 69, p. 1830-1832). The award is to be used for research that is directly applicable to better understanding the sedimentary geology of the U.S. Rocky Mountain region. This grant is in the amount of $2,000 and is for students attending a college or university in the U.S.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

●     Ph.D. candidate

●     Conduct sedimentary geology research in one of the following states: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, or New Mexico.

Preference will be given to applicants who attend a college or university in one of the following states: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, or New Mexico.

EDWIN D. MCKEE RESEARCH GRANT
Offered as a tribute to the late Edwin McKee who worked for the U.S. Geological Survey for over 30 years (see AAPG Non-Technical and Memorial Bulletin, v. 69, p. 491-493). The award is to be used for research in sedimentology and/or the application of sedimentology to a better understanding of the geology of the U.S. Rocky Mountain region. This grant is in the amount of $2,000 and is for students attending a college or university in the U.S.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

●     Undergraduate or Master’s degree candidate

●     Conduct sedimentological research in one of the following states: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, or New Mexico.

Preference will be given to applicants who attend a college or university in one of the following states: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, or New Mexico.

FLUVIAL SEDIMENTOLOGY RESEARCH GRANT
This award is to be used for research in modern or ancient fluvial sedimentology. This grant is in the amount of $2,000 and is for students attending a college or university in the U.S.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

●     Ph.D. or Master’s degree candidate

●     study modern or ancient fluvial sedimentology

●     Attend a college or university in one of the following states: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, or New Mexico.
Or Conduct research in one of the following states: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, or New Mexico.
